![]() ![]() ![]() I'd say it's well worth your time to explore Reaper and see how it works for you. Google "reaper edit multiple midi items" and there are some video tutorials on it. There may be other DAWs that do that but I'm not aware of it. That would be very handy for orchestral editing because you could have a group of tracks playing different instances of Kontakt and edit them all together in a single view including controller data. Just as a for instance, you can select multiple MIDI items on the arrange view in Reaper and edit them simultaneously in the same piano roll. I have not used Cubase in years so I can't compare them, but I would say Reaper's MIDI editing is above average in capability. I could even forgo what I consider the best aspect of Reaper (throwing multiple tracks in folders and then being able to add effects to the folder) if I had to, but the undo/redo when I happened upon it killed my interest stone dead I'm afraid. Me personally, I didn't think the workflow was as good as Reaper anyway when I tried it. It's also just so cumbersome the way different aspects of the undo functionality in Cakewalk are handled differently depending on what you're interacting with.īut hey, many users get on fine with it, and more power to them for that. I definitely favour the option of tweaking anything and everything spontaneously in Reaper knowing I can backpeddle step by step whether it's only a couple or a multitude of steps. It means you've got to have your wits about you before you engage in experimentation though doesn't it, and saving a 'scene' may be great when you're making wholesale changes, but every time you tweak? It isn't really a substitute for having everything covered by the undo function. We'd love to hear what you have produced with Reaper, but please post it in the weekly sticky.
